The February meeting will start our new year with a discovery introduction to practicing these beautiful historic bindings with exposed stitching on the spines, using tactile long stitch methods.
The guild has bought a wonderful selection of coloured threads that will enhance these designs, more to come on how we will be given the chance to tap into these threads.
I will be organising a simple method for you to practice these designs, with a view to creating a fully bound sketch book in our March meeting. Toward the March meeting you might like to source some scrap leather that will be enough to surround the spine and part of the exterior of the sketch books to be made. I would suggest this leather be approximately 15cm high x 25cm long. You may like to substitute this leather with another type of covering ? If so make sure it is a flexible and sturdy product that will take tension from stitching and glue well.
Thanks for your inspiration Sandy – look forward to catching up with everyone on Friday. Regards. Helen
Is there anything in particular we need to bring to the session tomorrow? Thanks. Helen
